Things to consider before adopting:
- Will you be patient with your newly adopted pet understanding that it is not any more perfect than you are? That is called unconditional love — can you give it as much as you will receive it?
- Will you seek out advice from trained professionals or will you just give up if things don’t run smoothly initially?
- Are you able to provide your newly adopted pet with necessary vet care including heartworm prevention?
- Are you able to commit to it for its lifetime no matter what?
- Will you keep it when you move?
- Will you keep it in spite of allergies?
- Will you care for it even as your family grows?
- Should you get a puppy, kitten or an adult pet? Consider your lifestyle and time constraints before you choose a baby over an adult.
